How You Can Help

Whether you’re turning off your lights during bird migrations, chasing the northern lights, marveling at fireflies, or anything in between, your actions help reverse light pollution.

Do you believe in protecting the natural world and need some guidance on where to start? It begins with simple changes to your daily routine.

Turning off unnecessary outdoor lighting

Not all nighttime lighting is essential. Lights left on in empty spaces, decorative lighting, and fixtures that shine upward or outward often do more harm than good. Use light only where and when it’s truly needed.

Closing your blinds at night

Keep light from spilling outdoors by closing blinds and curtains after dark.

Telling your friends and family

Start conversations with friends, family, and neighbors about why protecting the night matters.

Educating others

Share knowledge about how artificial light affects wildlife, human health, and our connection to the night sky.

Volunteering

We participate in events all over the state and are looking for people like you!

Joining the Chapter

Membership is free, and all are welcome to join. We meet monthly via Zoom.
