How We Take Action

Education
Offering resources, workshops, and presentations on good lighting practices.
Advocacy
Supporting community efforts to reduce light pollution and encouraging policies that protect dark skies.
Partnership
Working with municipalities, conservation groups, parks, organizations, electricians, utilities, businesses, and residents.
Community Engagement
Programs like Lights Out Wisconsin, seasonal campaigns, and dark sky events and activities.
Practical Guidance
Promoting shielded lighting, warm color temperatures (2200K or lower), motion sensors, and turning off unnecessary lights.

DarkSky Wisconsin aims to unite communities across the state in efforts to protect the natural night environment.

We do this by promoting responsible outdoor lighting and raising awareness about the negative impacts of light pollution on wildlife, human health, and the environment. Through our efforts, residents and visitors alike will have the opportunity to experience the wonder of a natural night sky while contributing to the preservation of this valuable resource.
